Crowley ISD is experiencing tremendous growth and this has moved the school district into the distinction of being one of the largest ISD's in Dallas/Ft.Worth Area. With over 12,000 students and more than 1500 faculty members, giving CISD a student to teacher ratio of 15 to 1. This simple factor complicates CISD's communication structure and deployment. IP Convergence recommended the 3COM platform and a combination of the V5000 and NBX for Crowley's IP telephony deployment. Steve Stricklin Crowley's Director of technology, states, "communication between parents and teachers is critical for the management and development of each student." One of CISD's requirement was phantom voicemail boxes for it entire faculty staff. Mr. Stricklin states, " We need the ability for each teacher to have a voicemail box that does not have to be attached to a phone. Also, for each faculty member to retrieve their voicemail through a handset on campus, offsite from a backdoor dial-in number, or even through unified messaging via e-mail. This increase our communication process tenfold." Miguel Sanchez Network Manager provided further reasoning for deploying the 3COM system. "3COM's system was almost 50% less than other VoIP solutions. It integrated seamlessly into our Cisco network. Also, single cable runs by daisy chaining the PC's to the phone cut our cable requirments. Plus the cost of adds moves and changes were eliminated by using this technology." With the size of the district response and support was increase by the management capabilities using the web interface.
Point Bank was needing a system that provided maximum uptime while providing services
to 11 locations plus the bank headquarters. The banks previous system required that a telephone
system had to be deployed at each location and increased the management of the IT staff by
de-centralizing the management out of the IT departments physical location. Since the bank had
branches across multiple area codes the bank wanted a system that would be smart enough to
add/remove digits to effectively utilize the capability of making local calls into a area code where
local dial tone was present. Manley Reynolds, IT Manager stated that "the ease of use for the
